    OEDA is excited to announce OEDA 360: State Economic Development Briefing.  We’ve taken the Mid-Year Briefing and made it even better!  The new name reflects the changes we’ve made to bring you a robust, comprehensive overview of the state programs, services and tools impacting the work you do every day.  We’ve expanded the program, included more state agencies, and included additional  networking opportunities.  This is truly a can’t miss event for every economic and community development professional in Ohio!

    • STAY CURRENT: OEDA 360’s state economic development briefing offers a robust program and can’t miss opportunity to get the latest information and updates from state agencies and state-level organizations.   

    • DYNAMIC PROGRAM: Attendees will hear from JobsOhio, the Ohio Development Services Agency, the Ohio Office of Workforce Transformation (new this year), the Ohio Department of Transportation (new this year), and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (new this year).

    • DIRECT ACCESS: Don’t miss this unique opportunity to interface with agency leadership and program managers and ask questions about critical state economic development programs and issues.

    The Ohio Economic Development Association is proud to have partnered with JobsOhio and Ohio University Voinovich School to create the Ohio Economic Development Institute, the state’s premier professional development program for economic development professionals.

    Course Description:  This two-day course will focus on site development and the site selection process. The site development aspects of the course will focus on the process of how to make sure that that Ohio communities have shovel-ready sites that are competitive, including working with engineers, utilities, engineers, land planners. The site selection part will provide the economic development practitioner with the basics of the JobsOhio site selection program, participation in the SiteOhio site certification program, working with site selectors, making sure that their community can be competitive, and the negotiation process.

    The OEDI Site Selection Course interactive delivery model helps ensure participants will leave with immediately applicable knowledge and build their professional network through group activities and the inclusion of an evening networking reception.  Unlike traditional lecture-style, this course focuses on participant engagement and interaction.  And, it provides a forum for economic development professionals to share information and build relationship with the best in the industry.  

    Prerequisites: There is a prerequisite for all Institute courses.  Attendees must have completed The Ohio Basic Economic Development Course or have three years of economic or community development experience.  Individuals who will be taking the Ohio Basic Economic Development Course in April 2017 may register for the courses.

    OEDI courses are stand-alone, though they serve as the pathway to the Ohio Certified Economic Development Credential.  Members are encouraged to register for multiple courses to received special discounted pricing. For more information about the Ohio Economic Development Institute and Ohio Certified Economic Development credential, click HERE.

    Lodging information:  A variety of hotel options to fit specific travel needs and budget are nearby.     Course Description:  This two-day course is designed to provide economic development professionals with a strong understanding of the finance and incentive programs that are available and utilized in Ohio.  Through interactive case studies, discussions, and speakers, the course will also give students the opportunity to work through real-world examples of how incentives are utilized. This will include both program details and how the programs are utilized in practice. The course will cover how the private capital markets work, public sector financing programs (such as JobsOhio, SBA, USDA, New Markets Tax Credits, etc.) along with incentives such as property and income tax credits, tax abatements, and grants at both the state and federal levels.
