Wilmington Air Park Looks Forward

Chisano Marketing Group
Throughout Clinton County every economic development group, business and
government entity is stressing that the community is “shovel ready” for business. But at Wilmington Air Park, we’re not just ready to start digging. We’re ready to start filling - filling the holes in our economy with new businesses and jobs.

Air freight giant DHL made a huge economic hole when it decided to exit Wilmington Air Park in May 2008. The exit of DHL left nearly 8,000 individuals unemployed. But, since then the community has been hard at work filling the void.

Clinton County turned a corner in June 2010 when DHL agreed to donate the air park to the community. Now, the Clinton County Port Authority has positioned the air park for regrowth.

IGS Energy CNG Services to Construct Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Station in the Mahoning Valley

IGS Energy CNG Services

YOUNGSTOWN, OH, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 – Today, IGS Energy CNG Services announced its plans to construct and operate a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station in the Greater Youngstown Area, specifically in Girard, Ohio. The first of its kind in the Mahoning Valley, this station will service a growing number of Ohio businesses and citizens who are converting to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) as a way to save roughly 30%-50% per gallon and use a clean, Ohio fuel.

“Our plans for this CNG fueling station is a component of our response to the emerging market demand for fast, convenient refueling of CNG vehicles,” said Scott White, president of IGS Energy. “Natural gas offers an inexpensive and environmentally friendly alternative to gasoline or diesel. Because natural gas is both abundant and produced domestically, vehicles fueled by natural gas are becoming an increasingly popular transportation option. This station will offer a convenient location and enable drivers to refuel in about the same time it would take at a conventional gasoline station.”

Ohio House hears testimony supporting the brownfield redevelopment tax credit

Develop Ohio
  June 5, 2013
The Ohio House of Representatives recently heard testimony in support of H.B. 135, which would authorize nonrefundable credits against the income tax and certain business taxes for the rehabilitation of vacant industrial sites (see our April 22, 2013, blog post for more information). Witnesses explained that redeveloping a brownfield site inherently involves "chronic risks and volatile costs" that make it difficult to acquire bank loans during the critical early stages of development, according to the Gongwer Ohio Report.
