|Easy Program Finder
Ohio Development Services Agency
The Ohio Development Services Agency offers more than 70 programs that help entrepreneurs, businesses and communities. Since customer service is a top priority of the agency, we’ve implemented a new tool on our website to help navigate through these programs.
This tool was originally designed to be used by staff members to learn and to connect the dots for related programs and services that may also assist our clients and customers. The tool turned out to be such a success, the agency decided to share it with our customers.
The Easy Program Finder helps the customer learn about specific programs by topic of interest.
This new tool allows users to search our programs by topics of interest, rather than program names. The user can quickly find concise information about each program or service offered at the agency, including the purpose, who/what it is designed to help, direct contact information and any related assistance programs.
We continue to work on additional ways to effectively present our programs and services.
Visit our site and learn all about the programs the Ohio Development Services Agency has to offer. http://development.ohio.gov/
|Ohio Airports Focus Study is
Taxiing to the Finish Line
Seven Public meetings scheduled to share results of the study
The Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Ohio Airports Focus Study, conducted in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), is preparing for landing. ODOT is hosting seven public meetings between September 16 and 29 to provide Ohio’s 97 publicly-owned general aviation airports and their local communities an opportunity to learn about the findings and draft recommendations to improve Ohio’s statewide aviation system.
Ohio’s system of airports is a significant contributor to the health and continued growth of Ohio’s economy. More than 123,400 Ohioans – two percent of the state’s workforce – are employed at or as a result of Ohio’s public airports and related businesses. These and other findings will be shared at the following public meetings:

|Ohio Statewide Development Corporation provides SBA 504 Financing to assist Pick Programmer's Property Purchase
Ohio Statewide Development Corporation
In the spring of 2012, Brian McMahon’s business, Pick Programmer’s Shop, was looking for a new location in Columbus, OH as their current building had been sold to a new owner and Brian felt his business was ready to make an investment to purchase its own real estate.
After finding a building two miles away, Brian went to Champaign Bank and applied for a loan. Brian preferred to put less than twenty percent down and asked if there were any other options. Champaign Bank contacted Julie Carr of the Ohio Statewide Development (OSDC) (pictured to the right with Brian McMahon) to inquire if OSDC could provide a 504 loan to help with the financing. OSDC was able to partner with Champaign bank on a 504 loan, allowing Brian to only put down 10%, Champaign Bank contributed 50% and OSDC contributed the other 40%. Success!! PICK purchased the new building and relocated in July of 2012.

|Another Billion Back
Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation
Recently Governor John Kasich and BWC Administrator Stephen Buehrer announced BWC’s “Another Billion Back”, proposing one billion dollars in rebates to Ohio employers. Upon approval, rebate checks will be issued directly to employers starting in October.
- If approved by the board, each rebate would equal 60% of the employers’ annual premium and checks will be distributed beginning in October.
- Private employers and public-taxing districts that pay premium into the State Insurance Fund and have active, up-to-date policies will be eligible for the rebate. Each employer’s rebate will reflect 60% of what they were billed during the last policy period (July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 for private employers; January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012 for public taxing districts).

|Call for Entries: Economic Development Rock Stars Under Age 40
Development Counsellors International (DCI)
For the second year, Development Counsellors International (DCI) is on the hunt for the economic development industry’s top young performers – those who are leading missions that spur investment, implementing projects to expand jobs and executing creative ways to market places. These nominees should be so good at what they do that they are flipping the economic development world upside-down-all before celebrating their 40th birthday.
Last year, two 40 Under 40 award recipients came from the state Ohio - Steve Fritsch of Team NEO and Joshua Smith of the City of Hamilton. For 2015’s award, let’s submit as many nominations as possible for our state!
Nominees must be 40 years old or younger as of December 31, 2014. DCI’s 40 Under 40 Selection Committee, comprised of five industry thought leaders, will review nominations during the month of November, winners will be notified in December and DCI will officially announce and recognize them at IEDC’s Leadership Conference in Palm Beach, Fla., January 25, 2015.
The deadline to nominate is October 31, 2014. Please submit your nominations here.
