|Call for Presentations for the
2015 Annual Summit
OEDA invites you to submit a proposal to present at the 2015 Annual Summit, themed “A World of Opportunity, Economic Development in Ohio,” to be held October 21 -23 at the Columbus Marriott Northwest. The OEDA Annual Summit offers an opportunity for you to showcase solutions, initiate provocative discussions, and share effective strategies to the many challenges facing economic developers in Ohio. We are particularly interested in showcasing case studies related to community economic development and workforce development initiatives. The theme this year is also indicative of the broad reach that economic development has. Workforce Development (innovations, best practices, collaborative initiatives), Transportation (including intermodal), Foreign Direct Investment are some of the areas we would like to focus on, based on the feedback from last year’s evaluations. Panel presentations are encouraged.

|Trust Belt Conferences
Comes to Columbus
Special discount being offered to all members of OEDA
By RON STARNER
EVP of Conway Inc.
For three days in June, Columbus will host an event unlike any other in the history of Ohio or the Midwest – the first-ever Trust Belt Conference. Sponsored by Columbus 2020 and organized by Conway Inc., publisher of Site Selection, the event will feature state and community leaders from across the entire Midwest.
In today’s global economic climate, states and regions seeking to remain viable must compete not only amongst each other, but band together to contend with foreign counterparts like China, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Government efforts such as the Select USA conference on a national level or the southern Aerospace Alliance on a regional level serve to consolidate efforts and maintain a stake in global economic competition. To that end, Midwestern states traditionally known as the “Rust Belt” are using tax law changes and other reforms to transform and increase economic opportunity in their region, marking their renaissance as the “Trust Belt”. To continue to shape the economic future of the region, leaders from “Rust Belt” states will convene at the upcoming “Trust Belt” Conference (May 31 - June 3, 2015) in Columbus, OH. The event will highlight how Midwest states are fending off the lure of corporate migration with the promise of quality workers, trust, and a legacy built on manufacturing excellence. Over the three-day conference, Governors, Mayors, University Presidents, Fortune 500 CEOs and executives who are leading the communities and companies of the Greater Midwest Region will come together to discuss how the Trust Belt economy has and is reinventing itself.
A special 20 percent discount off the regular registration fee of $995 is being offered to all members of OEDA. Sign up today, and you can get full registration to Trust Belt for just $795.
For more details, contact Ron Starner, EVP of Conway Inc., at email@example.com.
