Ohio Creates Healthy Food
Financing Initiative

Finance Fund

Ohio’s FY 2016-17 operating budget includes a $2 million provision of state seed capital to create a Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) to help bring healthy affordable food to Ohioans in underserved areas. This is a tremendous accomplishment made possible through Finance Fund’s work alongside The Food Trust and the statewide Healthy Food Financing Task Force.

The Task Force includes
nearly 50 leaders from the grocery industry and the community as well as the economic development, public health and civic sectors. Together, this group identified and quantified the need for increased access to healthy affordable food in rural and urban areas statewide, then framed a ten-point policy statement and engaged legislators to take action.
